Meet our Wills, Probate and Trusts Team

Eric Gardner - Partner

Eric is Head of our Wills, Probate and Trusts team, he became a partner in 1979 and is also a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner. 

Areas of practice include inheritance tax planning, administration of estates (Probate and Letters of Administration), Lasting powers of Attorney – Financial and Welfare and drafting of wills.

Eric takes a keen interest in cricket and is a Member of Lancashire County Cricket Club, he also enjoys the odd game of Correspondence Chess.

Margaret Gerrard Marshall - Solicitor

Margaret qualified as a solicitor in 1976, and specialises in Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Elderly Client practise which has developed as Margaret inherted many of her fathers clients following his retirement.  Working closely with the elderly community has naturally forged close links with many residential and care homes.

Margaret is very active within her local church and also enjoys fell walking, flower arranging and classical music.

Peter Milner - Consultant

Peter qualified as a Solicitor in 1981 and became a partner in 1987, moving to the role of Consultant in 2004.  Specialising in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection and Probate.  Peter also deals with residential and commercial conveyancing.  

 Weekends are often spent watching his son play cricket or rugby for his school.

Interested in the study of history, Peter also holds a Masters degree in Social history and has a keen interest in archaeology and has visited many sites in  Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.

A keen ear for music Peters musical taste ranges from Carole King and James Taylor to The Kinks taking in The Divine Comedy and The Proclaimers along the way with Miles Davis and Handel thrown in for good measure!

Ashley Marshall - Associate Solicitor

Ashley joined Marsden Rawsthorn in 2005 after studying law at Sheffield University and commenced his training contract, qualifying in 2007 to become the third generation lawyer in his family.

Ashley specialises in Wills, Probate, Trust Law (including settlement and administration), Elderly Client Law, Court of Protection work and tax planning.

Outside interests include golf, football and Ashley is an ardent Preston North End supporter.
